Steve Saleen is famous for racing and building high-performance Ford Mustangs. After cutting his teeth customizing and racing his own Shelby GT350, Saleen made a name for himself in the Formula Atlantic Series, finishing third overall in 1980. By 1982, Steve was back to closed-wheel racing where he was introduced to some Ford executives, and the idea of a Saleen-tuned Mustang was born.
