As we celebrate what would have been this Legend’s 80th birthday, this incredible collectable pays tribute to a colourful, courageous career spanning more than three decades, including 212 starts and 48 wins. Of special note is his seemingly endless run of wins at Bathurst - a gruelling endurance event he won a record nine times, beginning in 1972. Many of Peter Brock’s winning margins at Bathurst remain unequalled - his multi-lap leads and an incredible circuit-lap victory in 1982 of particular note. Taking pole position in six starts out of 32 - an extraordinary achievement in itself – is it any wonder he was hailed 'King of the Mountain', a title he earned whilst breaking a record during practice, followed by the race itself. After starting with rough-and-ready cars - including a dilapidated old Austin he had restored himself - Peter Brock was born to race and soon became prominent in the sport - progressing rapidly to become a constant winner in major events. His legendary duels with other race greats, are still spoken of with awe whenever anyone harks back to his golden era of racing. Peter also supported many important community causes, including his anti-drink-driving campaign and road safety initiatives, plus the Peter Brock Foundation to assist those in crisis – eventually being awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 1980 – a richly deserved accolade.
