On February 3rd, 1954, the newly-crowned Queen Elizabeth II arrived in Australia, becoming the first reigning monarch to visit our shores. The following evening, after a grand tour of Sydney, Her Majesty arrived at a State Banquet wearing a gown designed by Norman Hartnell, the couturier who created both her Coronation and wedding gowns. The ensemble was made of mimosa gold tulle and adorned with gold wattle paillettes, Australia’s floral icon. Endearingly referred to as the ‘Wattle Dress,’ the gown symbolised the young queen’s deep and sincere affection for the land Down Under. Our Master Artisans have created a stunning likeness of the young queen, capturing her serene beauty and elegant poise on that night of nights. Hand-crafted of fine bisque porcelain and delicately hand-painted for incredible lifelike realism, the figural portrait stands a majestic 43cm tall and is poseable.
