It seems impossible that Queen Elizabeth, our longest-reigning monarch is no longer with us, having passed away on 8 September 2022, aged 96. Head of state in 15 countries including the UK and leader of a Commonwealth encompassing 54 countries, she was succeeded by her son, King Charles III.
